Project History

SOIK and IGPC are working to promote perinatal care in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sierra Leone starting in 2019 to improve the situation in Africa, that many mothers and children lose their lives during childbirth. In 2020, they learned about Nippon Biodiesel Fuel Co. and our company’s efforts and they have decided to implement IT tools to improve perinatal care.

Challenges and Solutions for the Project

Medical institutions suffer from chronic budget shortages and are faced with the challenge of raising new costs for equipment and communication. One solution is to develop the system attractive to expectant mother so that the number of prenatal checkups will increase as a result of the system’s implementation, and the increased income by paying the additional costs from expectant mother will cover those costs.

Benefits and advantages for patients

By being able to diagnose fetal abnormalities, hypertension, and other transitional abnormalities that cannot be detected by conventional medical examination, both mother and child can have a safe birth.

Benefits and advantages for hospitals

By implementing IT tools, increase the number of expectant mother seen will increase revenues, and will reduce the burden on staff.
