According to the report, between 2022 and 2050, the population of sub-Saharan Africa (Sub-Saharan Africa) is expected to almost double, reaching over 2 billion by the late 2040s. The graph below shows that the growth in Central and South Asia, where India is located, is also significant, but Sub-Saharan Africa is quickly catching up. Also, the average fertility rate in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2050 is still nearly 3 children per woman, and there is still room for growth; in 2022, Sub-Saharan Africa’s population is growing at 2.5% per year, the highest growth rate of any other region in the world and more than three times the global average of 0.8% per year.
