HAT Reach
– Reaches Everyone – Data Sharing and Analysis

As in rural areas in Africa, many parts of the world still face unstable network and power conditions. And even in urban areas, infrastructure issues such as power supply, along with cost concerns, often make it difficult to maintain a constant internet connection.

Even in such environments, it lets you collect data, analyze the data entered to display advice, and provide access to information content such as educational materials. HAT Reach is precisely a system built to reach everyone, regardless of connectivity or location.

Overview

HAT Reach is an IT tool optimized for environments with underdeveloped infrastructure, such as rural areas in Africa, offering the following features.

• Can be deployed using only locally procured smartphones and tablets (up and running in a short time)
• Syncs with the server when online, and can also be used offline
• The data collection server is provided in the cloud, so it is ready to use as soon as the app is downloaded
• Identity verification via fingerprint reader, contactless IC card (NFC), or QR code card
• Also supports on-premises servers and, through app customization, integration with external devices such as sensors
• Multilingual support (Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese)

It is well suited to uses such as monitoring, beneficiary registration, remote technical guidance and production management, diagnostics, and learning. Labor management for field surveyors can also be handled within the app.

Creating Data Entry Forms

You can build forms on the web while previewing how they will actually look. You can also create programs that perform special processing, such as diagnostics based on the entered data.

Data Analysis, Export, and Charting

You can analyze the data you have collected and the information of each registrant, then export it or turn it into charts.

Farm Mapping

You can plot the locations where data was registered on a map and record the location and shape of farmland.

Product Traceability

By attaching QR code tags to your produce and scanning them with the app, you can trace your products.

Fingerprint Authentication Device

HF7000 mk2 (manufactured by HFSecurity)

A fingerprint reader developed based on our own field operation experience in Africa. With a built-in compact display, speaker, and high-speed Bluetooth, it was designed to make smartphone-linked fingerprint authentication easy to handle in the field.

• Display … Shows the finger to be scanned, scan success/failure, Bluetooth connection status, and more
• Audio guidance … Plays a distinct scan-start sound for each finger, along with clear success and failure sounds, through the speaker

The device also supports integration with other systems on a standalone basis.

Implementation and Operational Support

The system on which HAT Reach is based has a proven track record of use since 2021 in projects across Africa, including healthcare projects, monitoring, and displaced-persons registration.
We also offer services such as creating data entry forms on your behalf, as well as consultation and support for on-the-ground operations.

Pricing Plans

Available from JPY 28,000 per month (excluding tax). For organizations engaged in humanitarian aid, we also offer a free trial plan (with limits on the number of forms and the data retention period).

Services

• We have a great deal of knowledge about the state of IT penetration in Africa and the challenges and countermeasures for IT utilization. We provide consultation services for IT utilization support to execute local development projects and development support plans incorporating IT.
• We can also provide consultation as well as IT equipment (ex. IC cards) for development projects, and the information system construction using HAT Reach.
